Transcripts

A transcript is an official record of a student's entire tenure at Columbia. It reflects all coursework and grades per term for each school attended within the University. Current students should request transcripts online using Vergil. There is no fee for this service.

Other information found on the transcript includes the following:

  • Name as it appears in the Columbia University records
  • School and departmental affiliation
  • Degree/certificate program (if applicable)
  • Degree/certificate conferral date (if applicable)
  • Honors earned (if applicable)
  • G.P.A. is printed only on transcripts of students from CC, GS, SPS, and SEAS. Note: G.P.A. will not be printed on transcripts of students who attended prior to 1982.

The Student Service Center is unable to print transcripts and certifications at the counter during the first three weeks of each semester in order to focus on the provision of quality service to all students and their families. The Office of the University Registrar does not release transcripts to other educational institutions or third parties without authorization from the student.

Transcripts may not be produced for anyone whose record has been put on hold for an outstanding University obligation.

Individuals who attended Teachers College must contact the Registrar's Office of Teachers College to request transcripts.

A student is the only individual who may order an academic certification or transcript of their academic record. If you wish to receive either one, you must ask your student to submit a request and have it mailed to your address. A new request will need to be made each term.

Third-Party Ordering

Employers, lenders, insurers, organizations, and other entities that require a transcript or certification for Columbia University students and alumni must use Parchment's third-party ordering service.

Please contact Student Conduct and Community Standards regarding requests for disciplinary certifications.
