Prof. Jeannette M. Wing to Receive Honorary Degree from Linköping University

Jeannette Wing

Jeannette Wing, Avanessians Director of the Data Science Institute and professor of computer science, will receive an honorary of Doctor of Technology degree from Linköping University in Sweden. She is being honored for her work on computer science thinking, formal methods, and artificial intelligence. Originally scheduled for the weekend of May 16, the awards ceremony is now planned for the fall. 

Wing, who joined Columbia in 2017, is widely recognized for her intellectual leadership in computer science, particularly in trustworthy computing and her 2006 essay on computational thinking, which helped establish the centrality of computer science to problem solving in other fields. Read more.
