Cross-Registration: Columbia and Barnard College

For Columbia Students taking Barnard College courses:

 

  • Cross registration requests for Barnard courses may be completed online via SSOL. Cross registration begins at the same time as your online appointment and is only available for fall and spring semesters.

  • Search for Barnard courses through Vergil. Barnard courses are clearly labeled as being offered through Barnard. Barnard courses can be saved using Vergil and pushed to “Wish Lists” in SSOL.

  • For a course requiring instructor or departmental approvals, be prepared to obtain written, signed permission from the instructor or departmental representative. You may use Columbia’s Registration Adjustment Form to obtain this written permission. Once obtained, email the completed form to registrar@columbia.edu . We will then review the approval and proceed to register you for the course.

  • Grades: course instructors will submit grades to the Barnard Registrar.  The Columbia University Registrar’s office will obtain your courses grades from Barnard near the end of each semester as instructors submit grades. You can view your Barnard grades through SSOL once recorded.

     

For Barnard College students taking Columbia courses:

 

  • Cross registration requests for Columbia University courses are available through the Barnard Catalogue.

  • Cross registration begins at the same time as your online appointment and is only available for fall and spring semesters.

  • Barnard College does not offer summer session classes. Summer registration at Columbia University is treated as a transfer credit and is subject to some additional regulations. Please click here for further information on summer registration.
